Painted Bronzeback Tree Snake
  • Long, slender, slightly flattened body.
  • Smooth scaled.
  • Head elongate, distinctly broader than neck.
  • Large eye has round pupil.
  • Tail very long , thin and wire like.
  • Tongue red tipped with black.
  • Diural Arboreal;inhabits low bushes and trees.
  • Feeds on frogs, garden lizards, geckos, and small birds, even entering thatched houses to do so.
  • Sharply defined edges of belly and tail scales are notched, and help it climb.
  • Can leap from branch to branch.
  • Lays 3-5 elongate eggs.
  • If cornered, expands forebody to show light blue interscale skin, rears up and may strike repeatedly.
